We are one generation away from losing our knowledge of the rich culture of the rural, family farm. Farmhouses, barns, and corn cribs have rapidly disappeared from the rural landscape. Family farm life now lives only in the memories of those who were raised there. If these memories are not retrieved and written, society's knowledge of this unique experience of rural farm life will be lost forever. A Time to Recap is a collection of thirty-one short stories covering childhood memories of living on three farms in Southwest Iowa. The best outcome of reading them, would be that each country-raised reader become inspired to enter his or her vast field, and haul in a wagonload of written memories. They are worth preserving for your family. Others may enjoy them as well. This is a time to reap.
