Tim Cornish, a student in his twenties, has two great love affairs: one for a man named Ivo, the other for Isabel. Tim has not seen them for two years, but he is compelled to put these experiences on paper to rid himself of guilt over Ivo and regrets for Isabel. He is also plagued by visions of Ivo's ghost and anonymous, almost threatening letters.
