Summary:
(Producer) Directly guides you in developing a pain management program for the elderly with chronic pain in any care setting. An approach to specific drug therapy, including opiates, is discussed, with emphasis on fears of staff, patients, and family caregivers regarding addiction, tolerance, and respiratory depression with opiate use. Discusses the use of specific non-drug therapies to minimize medication use. Focuses on improving quality of life by providing an individualized care plan that addresses the physical and psychosocial symptoms, areas of decline in ADL's, family distress, and many other areas which contribute to suffering.
