Summary:
Behind the scenes footage and interviews about the making of the epic Tantalus with the adaptation for stage by Sir Peter Hall from John Barton's text. The three directors and international cast and production crew faced massive challenges in putting together the combination of ten segmented plays molded into one, which was eventually shown as two-day cycles and marathon 10 hour performances. Stories covered the events leading to the Trojan War, The War, and Homecomings, and are a mix of diverse political, tragic, comic, and bewildered messages linking ancient stories to modern life. Rehearsals and actual performance footage are interspersed, and interviews detail the influence of actors, use of masks to create archetypal characters and creative energy generated by the interaction of all involved. World premiere was Oct. 21, 2001, at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
