The How-to Guide identifies 17 key components that are necessary for legislating for EAF and describes how these components may be included within national fisheries and/or EAF-relevant, sector-specific legislation in order to support and facilitate EAF implementation. Comprehensive examples are provided for each component. The publication also analyses current and emerging trends relevant to the implementation of EAF, and discusses the challenges and barriers that may stand in the way of effective implementation. The initial draft of the How-to Guide was prepared by a team of legal consultants under the guidance of the Development Law Service (LEGN) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in close cooperation with the Marine and Inland Fisheries Branch of FAO. The guide was then field tested by LEGN under a legislative assistance project. This provided a valuable opportunity to develop a more nuanced approach towards legislating for an EAF and facilitating its implementation. The How-to Guide is intended as a tool that governments might utilize to improve the legal framework for fisheries management. A clear message is that EAF implementation on a substantive global scale is possible."--Page 4 of cover. 650 0 $a Fisheries $x Environmental aspects $z Developing countries. 650 0 $a Fishery management $z Developing countries. 650 0 $a Ecosystem management $z Developing countries. 650 7 $a Ecosystem management. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01432037 650 7 $a Fisheries $x Environmental aspects. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00926083 650 7 $a Fishery management. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00926228 651 7 $a Developing countries. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01242969 700 1 $a Shannon Cosentino-Roush, $e author. 710 2 $a Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, $e issuing body. 830 0 $a FAO EAF-Nansen project report ; $v no. 27. 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20191213013644.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=8713B2B8EC6A11E7AF65C16E97128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
