However, beginning in 1942, Gibson started producing wartime guitars each marked with a small, golden "banner" displaying the slogan: "only a Gibson is good enough". Over 9000 of these "Banner" guitars were produced between 1942 and 1945 and they are considered to be some of the finest acoustic guitars ever produced but who was making them? In this work of musical and social history, Thomas explores the origins of the Gibson "Banner" guitars and the remarkable women, many of whom had no prior training in instrument construction, who built them. 610 20 $a Gibson, Inc. $x History. 610 27 $a Gibson, Inc. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00539933 650 0 $a Gibson guitar $x History. 650 0 $a Guitar makers $z United States $x History. 650 0 $a Guitar makers $z United States $x History $v Personal narratives. 650 0 $a Guitar $x History. $z United States $x History. 650 0 $a Guitar $z United States $y 20th century. 650 0 $a Women $x History $z United States $x History $y 20th century. 650 0 $a Women $z United States $x History $x History $y 20th century. 650 0 $a World War, 1939-1945 $x Women $z United States. 650 6 $a Gibson (Guitares) $x Histoire. 650 6 $a Luthiers de guitares $z EÌtats-Unis $x Histoire. 650 6 $a Luthiers de guitares $z EÌtats-Unis $x Histoire $v ReÌcits personnels. 650 6 $a Guitare $x Histoire. $z EÌtats-Unis $x Histoire. 650 6 $a Guitare $z EÌtats-Unis $y 20e sieÌcle. 650 6 $a Femmes $z EÌtats-Unis $x Histoire $x Histoire $y 20e sieÌcle. 650 6 $a Guerre mondiale, 1939-1945 $x Femmes $z EÌtats-Unis. 650 7 $a Gibson guitar. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01745581 650 7 $a Guitar. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00949140 650 7 $a Guitar $x Construction. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00949145 650 7 $a Guitar makers. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00949190 650 7 $a Women. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01176568 650 7 $a Women $x Employment. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01176715 650 7 $a Women $x Social conditions. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01176947 651 7 $a United States. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01204155 648 7 $a 1900-1999 $2 fast 655 7 $a History. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01411628 655 7 $a Personal narratives. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01423843 655 7 $a Personal narratives. $2 lcgft 655 7 $a ReÌcits personnels. $2 rvmgf 941 $a 1 952 $l PLAX964 $d 20230718091343.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=AD19716A214711EEBC7340321FECA4DB 994 $a 92 $b IOHInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
