Drawn from the same set of December 28-31, 1971 concerts that made up The Band's Rock of ages double LP concert album (released: October 1972), this five-disc set contains two compact discs (discs 1 and 2) containing selections from the December 1971 Rock of ages concerts newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain, two compact discs (discs 3 and 4) containing the mostly previously unissued soundboard recordings from the December 31, 1971 concert performance, and a DVD videodisc containing selected tracks from compact discs 1 and 2 in 5.1 surround sound as well as film clips from the December 30, 1971 concert. Title from p. [1] of cover of accompanying book that is container. Performed by the Band (Rick Danko, bass, violin, vocals ; Levon Helm, drums, mandolin, vocals ; Garth Hudson, organ, accordion, saxophones ; Richard Manuel, piano, keyboards, drums, vocals ; Robbie Robertson, guitar, vocals) ; featuring Snooky Young, trumpet, flugelhorn ; Howard Johnson, baritone sax, tuba, euphonium ; Joe Farrell, tenor sax, soprano sax, english horn ; Earl McIntyre, trombone ; J.D. Parron, alto sax, e flat clarinet. Recorded in live performance at the Academy of Music, New York, December 28-31, 1971. Compact discs.
