Summary:
The 1783 St. Luke Passion is based on C.P.E. Bach's 1775 St. Luke Passion, which was an arrangement of Gottfried August Homilius's St. Luke Passion. The 1783 St. Luke Passion is a pasticcio crafted by Bach that uses recitatives and chorales originally by Homilius to convey the biblical narrative and weaves in expressive movements borrowed and adapted by Bach to fit the context of the gospel narrative.
