Summary:
Oceania comprises the islands located in the Pacific Ocean that are a part of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. The region located between Asia, Australia, and both Americas is worth special attention not only for cultural but also political and economic reasons. During the first decades of the current century the importance of the Pacific in international relations increased. The politics, economics, history, and culture of the states of Melanesia and Micronesia as well as Polynesia are a subject that cannot be omitted in the global puzzle of the twenty-first century.
