Dog show enthusiast Melanie Travis, four months pregnant, heads to a canine judging symposium in the Poconos with her Aunt Peg, a respected judge of poodles, and her sister-in-law Bertie, a professional dog handler, but her plans for a relaxing autumn getaway go awry when the keynote speaker, Charles Evans, whose opening remarks offended many in the crowd, is found dead in the hot tub.
