Summary:
“A joint report by Human Rights Watch and Refugees International, documents the consequences of the US-Guatemala Asylum Cooperative Agreement (ACA). The agreement allows for the transfer of non-Guatemalan asylum seekers to Guatemala without allowing them to lodge asylum claims in the United States, leaves them without access to effective protection in Guatemala, and leads some to return to their home countries where they are at risk of serious harm. The report is based on interviews with 30 Honduran and Salvadoran transferees under the ACA conducted in February 2020”—Back cover.
