Peter Pears (Captain Vere) ; Peter Glossop (Billy Budd) ; Michael Langdon (John Claggart) ; John Shirley-Quirk (Mr. Redburn) ; Ambrosian Opera Chorus, London Symphony Orchestra, Charles Mackerras. This film was first broadcast on BBC Television on 11 December 1966 and the original archival tape was not comparable to today's high technical standards. Nevertheless, careful restoration work has been undertaken by the BBC, and both Decca and the BBC consider this film to such significance to merit release on DVD for the first time. Booklet with program notes in English, French, and German (26 pages) inserted in container.
