Harvard-bound law student Samantha Fairchild becomes the target of a professional assassin after witnessing the murder of a local Boston celebrity journalist, and when the authorities refuse to provide her with protection, she turns to investigative reporter Vivi Angelino for help, which comes in the form of Angelino's brother Zach, a Special Forces veteran who once shared a passionate affair with Sam that ended when he shipped off to war.
