Summary:
Students in the Iowa City Community School District struggled in the are of computational fluency. Integrated learning System (Its) was implemented over an eight week period during the fall semester of the 2008-2009 school year. Students in the treatment and control group were given a pretest. The treatment group utilized an ILS program for eight weeks and continued with regular classroom instruction. The control group continued with only regular classroom instruction. After the eight week period, both groups of students took a posttest. The teacher concluded, based on percentages from the treatment group and control group that the treatment group was able to slightly increase the percentage of problems they solved correctly. The control group was able to increase their percentage of correct answers from their pretest to their posttest by a larger percent than the control group.
