Nothing brings a family together like a delicious home-cooked meal, especially when parents and kids can take part in preparing and enjoying it. But families with children who have type 1 diabetes sometimes have a difficult time finding recipes that satisfy everyone's appetites and nutritional needs. This cookbook contains dozens of wholesome recipes that are diverse, delicious, and easy to make -- taking the challenge out of meal planning! For those with celiac disease, the gluten-free recipes are identified, and some recipes include notes on how they can be prepared in a gluten-free way. Every dish includes a tip from a Disney character suggesting ways that junior chefs can get their hands in the mix. Each recipe also features nutritional analysis (by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, formerly the American Dietetic Association) with a carbohydrate count, which make calculations a snap for those with type 1 diabetes.
