"'THE PAPER POEMS' were constructed after finishing the first draft of my book 'The Apple in the Orchard' where I found myself wordless and turned to visual work, which I've been creating since 1977. Residing in Granada, Spain in late 2016 and early 2017 I found an extraordinary paper shop stocking Canson paper and the square formatted books in which I cut and pasted what I saw as paper figurations of poems using cut-ups, stamping, collages of Spanish texts, and gestural inking to produce this series." --title page verso
