A Lifelong Dream Becomes a Nightmare... Natasha was born into the world during a time of unimaginable change, as the USSR broke apart, creating new opportunities for some, but bringing hardship and chaos to many more. Talented, beautiful, and determined to make something of her life, Natasha pushes through a traumatic childhood in order to embark on a career as a professional singer and model. But when she is parted from the great love of her life, she realizes that she has to move on. Living in a culture that encourages women to marry young, and trapped in a country whose economic hardships have pushed her to the brink of starvation more than once, Natasha decides to pin her hopes on marriage to an American, through an agency that matches American men with Russian brides. Natasha has heard about how different life is in America, and imagines that her horizons will expand in a wonderful way. In good faith, she leaves her home, everyone she knows, and everything she loves. She cannot guess that as she steps onto American soil, she will be entering a life of horror that will test her ingenuity and resolve, and will make her learn the hardest lessons very quickly, in order to save her sanity and her life.
