As he searches for his uncle through the rugged Southwest canyon country, fourteen-year-old Clay becomes involved with a group of Navajo Indians who are trying to save some of the last wild mustangs. When his older brother abandons him on a trip through the Southwest, fourteen-year-old Clay takes up with a Navajo tribe, encounters the dangers of the wilderness, and discovers the fate of his long lost uncle.
