Miles Kendrick, a former spy for the mob who is now in the federal witness protection program, has built a new if fragile life in New Mexico. With the aid of his psychiatrist, Allison Vance, he struggles to overcome the post-traumatic stress disorder that developed after he killed his best friend while assisting the FBI. He is soon overwhelmed with even more guilt when Vance is killed shortly after asking him for his help with a sensitive matter. Kendrick soon discovers that Vance was involved with a new miracle drug for post-traumatic stress disorder, and that there's people who will do anything to gain control of its secret formula.
