"This CD-ROM contains full transcripts of the text of the fifty-five pre-1500 manuscripts and printed editions of Geoffrey Chaucer's Nun's Priest's Tale and associated links, together with images of all pages. Full word-by-word and line-by-line collations show the differences between each version, while a Compare view allows comparison of any two versions. Variant search and variant map features offer new ways of exploring the relations between the versions. A stemmatic commentary assesses the evidence for key readings, based on analyses of the history of the textual tradition using methods from evolutionary biology. Throughout, the publication interface provides access to every word in every version, to the variants on every word, and to tools and commentaries permitting exploration of the different versions"--Container.
