Whereas research has discussed in detail the history of the Chinggisid women, the role of their male non-Chinggisid counterparts - the imperial sons-in-law (Mon. güregen, Ch. fuma), mostly the powerful military commanders - is still an under-researched topic. In his monograph, Ishayahu Landa for the first time provides a comprehensive and detailed discussion of the Chinggisid in-laws, approaching them as a separate political institution with its own status, privileges, and ambitions, which played a crucial role in underpinning the Mongol rule across the continent. The monograph is unique in its combined usage of Arabic, Persian, Chinese, Latin and Old Slavonic primary sources as well as its temporal scope, ranging from the early thirteenth century to the period of the Chinggisid Crisis and beyond. The monograph will be of interest for specialists in Mongol, Chinese, Islamic, Russian, and global histories, as well as in the field of Gender Studies, and nomadic history and ethnography. At the same time, it covers an important aspect of the power structure behind the Chinggisid expansion, its maintenance of power from Korea to the Black Sea, as well as its decline. 500 $a Thesis (doctoral)--Hebrew University of Jerusalem, 2019. 504 $a Includes bibliographical references (pages 354-399), glossary and index. 505 00 $g Conclusion. $g 1. $t In-laws in the Chinggisid imperial architecture : general observations and final discussion. $g 2. $t Chinggisid güregens under the Yuan -- $g 3. $t The Chinggisid güregens of the Ilkhanate -- $g 4. $t The güregens of the Jochid Ulus (mid-thirteenth -- early fifteenth century) -- $g 5. $t The güregens in the Ãgödeid and the Chaghadaid realms (until 1347) -- $g 6. $t Legacy and memory of the imperial in-laws : The Great Crisis and beyond -- $g Conclusion. $t In-laws in the Chinggisid imperial architecture : general observations and final discussion. 600 00 $a Genghis Khan, $d 1162-1227 $x Family. 600 07 $a Genghis Khan, $d 1162-1227 $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00087611 648 7 $a To 1500 $2 fast 650 0 $a Mongols $x History. 650 0 $a Mongols $x Marriage customs and rites. 650 0 $a Marriages of royalty and nobility $z Mongolia $x History. 650 0 $a Women $z Mongolia $x History $y To 1500. 650 0 $a Inheritance and succession $z Mongolia $x History. 650 7 $a Families $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01728849 650 7 $a Inheritance and succession $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00973371 650 7 $a Marriages of royalty and nobility $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01010652 650 7 $a Mongols $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01025421 650 7 $a Women $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01176568 651 0 $a Iran $x History $y 1258-1500. 651 0 $a China $x History $y Song-Yuan dynasties, 960-1368. 651 7 $a China $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01206073 651 7 $a Iran $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01204889 651 7 $a Mongolia $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01208752 655 7 $a History $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01411628 830 0 $a Asiatische Forschungen ; $v Bd. 161. 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20240117013732.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=690832B49E3C11EE84E191EF36ECA4DBInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
