Nationtime is a report on the National Black Political Convention held in Gary, Indiana, in 1972, a historic event that gathered black voices from across the political spectrum, among them Jesse Jackson, Dick Gregory, Coretta Scott King, Dr. Betty Shabazz, Richard Hatcher, Amiri Baraka, Charles Diggs, Isaac Hayes, Richard Roundtree and H. Carl McCall. Narrated by Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte, the film was considered too militant for television broadcast at the time and has since circulated only in an edited 58-minute version. This new 4K restoration from IndieCollect, with funding from Jane Fonda and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, returns the film to its original 80-minute length and visual quality. -- Provided by publisher. 505 8 $a Extra features: Interview with Louise Graves -- Interview with David Greaves -- Audio commentary by David Greaves -- Trailer. 611 20 $a National Black Political Convention $d (1972 : $c Gary, Ind.) 650 0 $a Black power $z United States $x History $y 20th century. $9 237278 650 0 $a African Americans $x History $y 1964- $9 232740 650 0 $a African Americans $x Political activity. 650 0 $a African American leadership. $9 74669 655 7 $a Documentary films. $2 lcgft $9 857131 655 7 $a Nonfiction films. $2 lcgft $9 857160 655 7 $a Feature films. $2 lcgft $9 290023 700 1 $a Baraka, Amiri, $d 1934-2014, $e screenwriter. $9 73387 700 1 $a Greaves, William, $e screenwriter. $e film producer, $e screenwriter. 700 1 $a Poitier, Sidney, $e narrator. $9 24846 700 1 $a Belafonte, Harry, $d 1927- $e narrator. $9 129354 700 1 $a Jackson, Jesse, $d 1941- $e on-screen participant. $9 61320 700 1 $a Shabazz, Betty, $e on-screen participant. $9 847504 700 1 $a King, Coretta Scott, $d 1927-2006, $e on-screen participant. $9 160313 700 1 $a Seale, Bobby, $d 1936- $e on-screen participant. 700 1 $a Fauntroy, Walter E., $e on-screen participant. $9 463701 711 2 $a National Black Political Convention $d (1972 : $c Gary, Ind.), $j presenter. 710 2 $a Kino Classics (Firm), $e publisher. $9 838902 941 $a 1 945 $a blu 952 $l FXPH314 $d 20220909063703.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=7143B14C300611EDA406B4E81FECA4DB 994 $a C0 $b KAYInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
