Summary:
A comedy-drama set on the eve of World War II which contrasts the affairs of the French aristocracy and the working class at a weekend house party. Renoir points a picture of a social world where pleasure is the prize, where intrigue, guile and the lack of honesty are part of the "rules" of a dying class.
