Jocelyn Minton, having formed a friendship with the elderly Miss Edi after her father remarried and she began to feel like an outsider in her own family, copes with the death of her confidante and moves into the woman's eighteenth-century home in a small town, where she uncovers secrets about her past and finds love with a local lawyer.
