Summary:
Shows the Sahel ten years after the drought of the early 1970s but prior to increased world awareness brought about by the recent famine in Ethiopia. Sahel, the Arabic word for coast, defines the region of the creeping desert where the lives of people and animals are swallowed up as the Sahara advances by as much as a metre each month.
