Several essays explore how Irish women writers engaged with European themes and traditions through the genres of travel writing, the historical novel, the monologue and the fairy tale. Other contributions are concerned with the British context in which some texts were published and argue for the existence of Irish inflections of phenomena such as the New Woman, suffragism or vegetarianism. Further chapters emphasise the transnational character of Irish women's writing by applying continental theory and French feminist thinking to various texts; in other chapters new developments in theory are applied to Irish texts for the first time. Casting the efforts of Irish women in a new light, the collection also includes explorations of the work of neglected or emerging authors who have remained comparatively ignored by Irish literary criticism. 650 0 $a English literature $x History and criticism. $x History and criticism. 650 0 $a English literature $x History and criticism. $x History and criticism. 650 0 $a Irish literature $x History and criticism. $x History and criticism. 650 0 $a Women and literature $z Ireland $x History. 650 7 $a English literature $x Irish authors. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00912074 650 7 $a English literature $x Women authors. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00912218 650 7 $a Irish literature $x Women authors. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00979040 650 7 $a Women and literature. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01177093 651 7 $a Ireland. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01205427 650 7 $a Englisch. $0 (DE-588)4014777-0 $2 gnd 650 7 $a Frauenliteratur. $0 (DE-588)4113622-6 $2 gnd 651 7 $a Irland. $0 (DE-588)4027667-3 $2 gnd 650 7 $a Frauenliteratur. $2 idszbz 650 7 $a Englisch. $2 idszbz 651 7 $a Irland. $2 idszbz 650 7 $a Irish literature $x History and criticism. $x History and criticism. $2 idszbzes 650 7 $a Litteraturvetenskap $x foÌrfattare $z Irland. $2 kao 650 7 $a IrlaÌndsk litteratur (engelskspraÌkig) $x kvinnliga foÌrfattare. $2 sao 655 7 $a Criticism, interpretation, etc. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01411635 655 7 $a History. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01411628 700 1 $a D'hoker, Elke. 700 1 $a Ingelbien, RaphaeÌl. 700 1 $a Schwall, Hedwig. 830 0 $a Reimagining Ireland ; $v v. 40. 941 $a 1 952 $l ULAX314 $d 20190926093334.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=5FAF3C76E02711E98EBD524297128E48 994 $a 92 $b IOLInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
