Precious Ramotswe believes her husband is planning a special surprise for their adopted daughter, Motholeli, but what it is and whether or not he can carry it off without causing a handful of troubles remains to be seen. Along the way, Mma Ramotswe is asked to investigate a couple of tricky cases including a series of deaths at the hospital in Mochudi and the missing office supplies at a local printing company.
