Elizabeth Bennet is a smart, vivacious gentleman's daughter and the second eldest of five unmarried sisters. Her mother has marriage at the forefront of her mind, especially since her husband's estate will not pass down to their children. When a very eligible gentleman, Mr. Bingley, leases a house in their neighborhood, there is a social uproar. Mr. Bingley takes an instant liking to Elizabeth's older sister Jane, but his haughty friend Mr. Darcy doesn't like the match, even as Darcy admires Elizabeth from afar.
