Summary:
When Daniela Robles, a teacher at the Mitchell Elementary School in Phoenix, Arizona, began working toward National Board Certification, she found the process both challenging and empowering. She urged her peers to attempt the certification, and this film follows the trials and triumphs of the twenty teachers who accepted that challenge. Wins and losses affect the teachers, the community, administrators, and most of all the students. While the film is a fascinating case study of this Hispanic, low-income, K-6 school, the goal is to show the nationwide advantages of teacher certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
