Summary:
"Live-action rendition of the period novella "Hole of Darkness" by Fujisawa Shuhei, also known for the story The Twilight Samurai. Thoughtfully depicts the sorrows of a samurai anguishing between honor and love, interspersed with spectacular sword fighting. Director Shinohara Tetsuo and lead actor Higashiyama Noriyuki are united again after their last Fujisawa film, Yamazakura. Sakunosuke (Higashiyama), a skilled swordsman from Unasaka domain, is ordered by the chief retainer to kill Sakuma (Kataoka Ainosuke), who was critical of the domain's agricultural policy. However, Sakuma is Sakunosuke's childhood friend, and husband of his sister Tazu (Kikuchi Rinko)."--J-Pitch JFDB.
