Summary:
This project consists of construction of a new segment of West Shaulis Road and reconstruction of a segment of Ansborough Avenue, in Waterloo, Iowa. The West Shaulis Road construction will extend east from Ansborough Avenue to Iowa Highway 21 (Hawkeye Road), and the reconstruction of Ansborough Avenue will extend north from West Shaulis Road to the south ramp terminals at the Ansborough interchange on U.S. Highway 20. The project includes right-of-way acquisition sufficient to accommodate full build-out of a future four-lane roadway with center turn lanes, construction of an interim two-lane facility, construction of a recreational trail along the northerly edge of West Shaulis Road, and as much grading as possible to accommodate future construction. The current project will include limited storm drainage facilities, some curbed sections, and some sections with rural shoulders and ditches. As part of the proposed project, existing right-of-way will be used whenever practical, but additional right-of-way will be required to accommodate the proposed improvements.
