The book explores the politics of the US foreign aid to Pakistan with regard to the issues of 'sovereignty' and 'agency' to analyze the notions of aid, power and narratives and pre-conceived notions on power and agency of the recipient countries in this asymmetrical US-Pakistan relation. Based on primary interviews and extensive data analysis of US foreign aid datasets, the book specifically argues that foreign aid is based under the hubris of security-development nexus, which encourages a dialectical power struggle between the US and Pakistan, and between the civil and military actors inside Pakistan that use the indivisibility of security and development to advance their strategic interests over each other. This book is a timely analysis given the context of Afghan peace process and the central role of the US and Pakistan. Interdisciplinary and relevant to academic and policy debates, this book will be of interest to researchers in the field of Development Studies, International Relations, Policy Studies, Area Studies, in particular South Asian Politics"-- $c Provided by publisher. 610 10 $a United States. $t Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act of 2009 650 0 $a Economic assistance, American $x Law and legislation $z Pakistan. 651 0 $a United States $x Law and legislation. $x Law and legislation. 651 0 $a United States $x Foreign relations $z Pakistan. 651 0 $a Pakistan $x Foreign relations $z United States. 650 7 $a Diplomatic relations. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01907412 650 7 $a Diplomatic relations $x Law and legislation. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01910430 650 7 $a Economic assistance, American $x Law and legislation. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00901631 651 7 $a Pakistan. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01210275 651 7 $a United States. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01204155 776 08 $i Online version: $a Nadim, Hussain. $t Aid, politics and the war of narratives in the US-Pakistan relations $d Abingdon, Oxon : Routledge, 2023 $z 9781003193210 $w (DLC) 2022003519 830 0 $a Routledge/ASAA South Asian publications series ; $v 9. 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20240619011437.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=51BDD5A02E0111EFA856D47D28ECA4DBInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
