Yet the weaving classes taught by Anni Albers, Trude Guermonprez, and six other faculty members are rarely mentioned or are often treated as mere craft lessons. This was far from the case: the weaving program was the school's most sophisticated and successful design program. About ten percent of all Black Mountain College students took at least one class in weaving, including specialists like textile designers Lore Kadden Lindenfeld and Else Regensteiner, as well as students from other disciplines, like artists Ray Johnson and Robert Rauschenberg and architects Don Page and Claude Stoller. Drawing upon a wealth of unpublished material and archival photographs, Weaving at Black Mountain College rewrites history to show how weaving played a much larger role in the legendary art and design curriculum than previously assumed"-- $c Provided by publisher. 610 20 $a Black Mountain College (Black Mountain, N.C.) $x History $y 20th century $v Exhibitions. 600 10 $a Guermonprez, Trude, $d 1910-1976 $v Exhibitions. 600 10 $a Albers, Anni $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Textile design $z Black Mountain $z Black Mountain $x History $y 20th century $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Hand weaving $z Black Mountain $z Black Mountain $x History $y 20th century $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Weaving $z Black Mountain $z Black Mountain $x History $y 20th century $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Hand weaving $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Weaving $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Fiberwork $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Weaving in art $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Weavers $x History $y 21st century $v Interviews. 700 1 $a Thomson, Julie J., $e author. 700 1 $a Danilowitz, Brenda, $e contributor. 700 1 $a Nieling, Jennifer, $e contributor. 700 1 $a Warren, Erica, $d 1982- 710 2 $a Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center, $e issuing body. $e issuing body. 941 $a 1 952 $l USUX851 $d 20240305042632.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=13BD944E933C11EEBCD0C43545ECA4DB 994 $a C0 $b IWAInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
