Originally released in 1949 by Columbia as ML 4180 ; remastered in 1998. This disc is part of a 12-disc boxed set issued by Sony in 2012. Bonus tracks are from the 1998 release, including two songs written for South Pacific but dropped before the opening, recorded in 1951 and sung by Mary Martin, a studio recording from 1950 of Bali Ha'i sung by Ezio Pinza, and an orchestral work created by Robert Russell Bennett and recorded by the Philadelphia Orchestra Pops under Andre Kostelanetz in 1951. Booklet with program notes by Ted Chapin and David Foil, biographies of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, and histories and synopses of the individual musicals (96 unnumbered pages : illustrations) accompanies set.
