Summary:
Set in New York City, this retelling of Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens has Andre, the owner of a brothel trading in young, exploiting his young charges through paternalism and drugs and setting his sights on Lee, a 10-year-old Black runaway orphan. Through Andre, Lee quickly becomes immersed in New York City's underbelly of drug dealers and street hustlers. An aspiring songwriter named Angel befriends Lee and rescues him from the clutches of Andre and his cohorts. Eventually, Andre's petty empire is vanquished by Shiniqua, a fiercely maternal drag queen.
