Summary:
It is 1919 New York City and the birth of jazz is just around the corner. Young Lucinda is on her way home from the market and stops to hear her neighbor Thomas "Fats" Waller play the piano. In another part of the city, Rose, feeling left out of her father's busy schedule, decides to hide away in the back of his car on the night he is to go to the Lincoln Theatre. Rose joins Lucinda and her family at the theatre in hopes of finding her father, but what happens next is history, Jazztime history.
