Summary:

A touching story about two young Muscovites, 7 year old Chuk and 6 year old Gek, going with their mother to visit their dad who is on a faraway geological expedition. And about how they tried to withstand a severe winter and other kinds of difficulties, because their dad could not meet them, for he had left on an urgent mission, though he did send a warning telegram, which the children threw out of a window before their mom could read it.
