Summary:
The first of two episodes on the mental institutions of Iowa. The program shows footage of the two mental hospitals and discusses the therapy methods used there, including outpatient services, group therapy, shock therapy, insulin therapy, hydro therapy and psycho drama. Includes interviews with Dr. Norman Reuder (Superintendent of Clarinda Institute), Dr. Whitty (Independence), Milton Sanderson from Waterloo (patient) and a musical performance by patients and volunteers.
