Summary:

Seiichi and Tamako live on the inland sea in Hiroshima Prefecture and make a living by transporting rocks in a small wooden ship. Their livelihood is threatened by a corporation with a much larger and faster ship. They both struggle to maintain their way of life, but are confronted by hardship and a difficult decision.
