Peege (the grandmother's nickname) has gone blind, and has lost some of her mental faculties. The visit is awkward, because none of the members of the family know how to deal with the non-responsive shell that was once a vibrant woman. When they find an excuse to leave, the young man remains with her for a few minutes. He tries to trigger some response by whispering into her ear some of his early memories of her. He uses simple human touch to form an expression of closeness. His efforts succeed, and he is able to communicate despite the barriers of disease and age. When he leaves, she is alone again, but now with a feeling of worth, knowing that someone cares. --Container. 586 $a National Film Registry selection, 2007. 500 $a Originally issued as motion picture in 1973. 500 $a Copyright date from onscreen FBI warning. 505 00 $t End credits. $t In the car -- $t Nursing home -- $g The $t whole family is here -- $t Greg's memory -- $t Come back music! -- $g The $t cabin -- $t Fond memories -- $t I remember -- $t End credits. 650 0 $a Alzheimer's disease $x Family relationships $x Family relationships $v Drama. 650 0 $a Older people $v Drama. 650 0 $a Grandparent and child $v Drama. 650 0 $a Grandmothers $v Drama. 650 0 $a Older people $x Family relationships $v Drama. 650 0 $a Older women $v Drama. 650 7 $a Alzheimer's disease $x Family relationships. $x Family relationships. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00806564 650 7 $a Grandmothers. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00946353 650 7 $a Grandparent and child. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00946360 650 7 $a Older people. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01199093 650 7 $a Older people $x Family relationships. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01199108 650 7 $a Older women. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01199159 655 7 $a Fiction films. $2 lcgft 655 7 $a Short films. $2 lcgft 655 7 $a Video recordings for the hearing impaired. $2 lcgft 655 7 $a National Film Registry. $2 local 655 7 $a Drama. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01423879 700 1 $a Kleiser, Randal. $4 flm $4 drt $4 flm 700 1 $a Knapp, David. $4 pro 700 1 $a Berman, Leonard S. $4 pro 700 1 $a Davison, Bruce, $d 1946- $4 act 700 1 $a Nolan, Jeanette, $d 1911-1998. $4 act 700 1 $a Schallert, William, $d 1925- $4 act 700 1 $a Livingston, Barry, $d 1953- $4 act 700 1 $a Rush, Barbara, $d 1927- $4 act 700 1 $a Yahnke, Robert E. 700 1 $a Albertine, Charles. $4 cmp 710 2 $a Bedford Productions (Firm) 710 2 $a Kleiser-Knapp Productions (Firm) 710 2 $a Phoenix Learning Group. 941 $a 2 945 $a dvv 952 $l KSPG296 $d 20160618010206.0 952 $l GAAX314 $d 20150828010544.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=259277A24D4A11E5A8F59BD0DAD10320 994 $a C0 $b HL6Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
