This brilliant artist has for too long been neglected. The Dorsky Museum, in partnership with the Everson Museum of Art, is presenting the first retrospective and catalogue to reassess Tomlin's art and legacy in over four decades. Bradley Walker Tomlin: A Retrospective includes over 40 paintings, works on paper, photographs, and printed materials, charting Tomlin's development from magazine illustrations of the 1920s to large-scale abstract paintings of the 1950s. Exhibition highlights include original cover illustrations for House & Garden from the CondeÌ Nast Archive, Art Deco-influenced still life paintings, Cubist-Surrealist paintings, and major Abstract Expressionist canvases. The exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated, 138-page catalogue featuring an extensive critical essay by curator Daniel Belasco, and additional essays by Bard College art history professor Tom Wolf, Everson Museum of Art Executive Director Elizabeth Dunbar and Albright-Knox Art Gallery Chief Curator Emeritus Douglas Dreishpoon. A selection of primary source materials and writings by and about Tomlin, some published for the first time, and a diary entry by novelist Robert Phelps, serve as a valuable addition to this extensive new document." -- Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art website 600 10 $a Tomlin, Bradley Walker, $d 1899-1953 $v Exhibitions. 600 10 $a Tomlin, Bradley Walker, $d 1899-1953 $v Catalogs. 600 17 $a Tomlin, Bradley Walker, $d 1899-1953. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01917435 650 0 $a Abstract expressionism $z United States $v Exhibitions. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009113371 650 0 $a Abstract expressionism $z United States $v Catalogs. 650 7 $a Abstract expressionism. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00794746 651 7 $a United States. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01204155 655 7 $a Exhibition catalogs. $2 lcgft $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026098 655 7 $a Catalogs. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423692 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423692 655 7 $a Exhibition catalogs. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1424028 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1424028 700 1 $a Belasco, Daniel, $e editor. $e contributor, $e editor. 710 2 $a Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/nr2003008818 710 2 $a Everson Museum of Art. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79110303 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20191211025404.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=55ADEB36F83511E784964A6B97128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
