Summary:
Employs a double narrative, one revolving around two young sisters who are reading the tale of Bluebeard, and the other telling the story of young Marie-Catherine, child bride to Bluebeard, an aristocratic ogre with a reputation for murdering his wives. The Princess must employ all her cunning to outwit her husband and escape a potentially unpleasant fate.
