Summary:
Captive heart, the James Mink story: After marrying his daughter to an American businessman, a black Canadian, James Mink, finds out she has been sold into the slave trade. A gathering of old men: When a white farmer is shot in self-defense by a black man, feisty plantation owner Candy Marshall convinces a group to come forward en masse and take responsibility for the killing. One heart broken into song: Lyla Cromwell leaves her small hard-working community with rebel Hank Johnson when he promises her a better life. Go tell it on the mountain: John has a talent for writing, but his father has pushed him towards a life of faith.
