The original Spanish manuscript is lost. An Italian translation by G. B. Ramusio was published in his "Terzo volvme delle navigationi et viaggi ... Venetia, 1556," leaves 371-414. It was translated from the Italian into Spanish by Joaquin García Icazbalceta, in 1849, and published as an appendix to his Spanish translation of Prescott's "History of the conquest of Peru". It was republished in "Obras de ... García Icazbalceta", Mexico, 1898, volume 8. The present English translation is from the Spanish text issued by García Icazbalceta in 1849. cf.
