Mondays at Sycamore House are quiet and a great time for Polly to work without interruption. But what happens when the crazy stuff erupts before she gets to work? A dead body, Henry's phone is found by a stranger on the highway where an accident occurred, a young classmate dies bringing pain to a heart that has experienced too much, one of Polly's children is injured, a young girl is unexpectedly pregnant. Polly's quiet Monday blew apart. What of Tuesday? A friend north of Bellingwood discovers a child walking along the gravel road. Are Polly and Henry available to foster? The obvious answer is yes, but first, Polly must confront a petty tyrant of a man in the children's ward of the hospital. Sheriff Merritt wades in to keep her from making a bad situation worse. The frightened child is forced to be alone, which breaks Polly's heart. Relief comes in the form of Rebecca returning home early for spring break. Her arrival is the beginning of sanity. Polly's friends step in and help where they can, but her daughter is old enough to understand what Polly needs in the small moments. They only have a week, but it is enough to bring life back to normal. Friendships might be tested, family might be pressed, but the one thing Polly believes is that love gives her the resources to overcome it all. She'll be ready for whatever is next.
