After being released from prison, Korey's intention to go straight is challenged by childhood friend and fellow ex-con Hammer, who reminds Korey of the street oath they took as kids. Sentenced to serve two decades in federal prison, Korey "Killa Korey" Taylor is released after a change in the crack cocaine sentencing laws. Now he's on his way home to Charlotte, North Carolina. While serving his time Korey took classes that he hoped would help him become someone other than a drug dealer, determined to reconnect with his teenage daughter. When he links back up with Hammer, who was released months before him, Korey finds his most sincere intent to go straight challenged.
