Each day, newspapers across the country work to put context around the first draft of history. Editors weigh the stories and determine which ones will go on the front page of the newspaper. The selection is an imperfect science of weighing impact and importance, interest and implications and which stories are unique to the newspaper. This collection of front pages details some of the most iimportant local, state, national and international news of the past 135 years as reported and presented in The Gazette. As The Gazette celebrates its 135th anniversary, the pages are a rich reminder of some of the most important events that helped shape our region and shared history since our press started running in 1883.
