Emmy Destinn (Margarethe), Ida von Scheele-Müller (Marthe), Marie Goetze (Siebel), Karl Jörn (Faust), Paul Knüpfer (Mephistopheles), Desider (Dezsö) Zádor (Valentin), Arthur Neudahm (Brander); Chorus of the Court Opera Berlin and Grammphon Orchester Berlin, conducted by Bruno Seidler-Winkler. Recorded by the German branch of the Gramphone Company, Ltd., on thirty-four sides, between February and May, 1908. Remastered for CD release. Libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, based on the drama by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Second disc includes an "appendix" with a selection of Emmy Destinn arias composed by Wagner, Thomas, Verdi, Puccini, and Smetana, recorded between 1906 and 1909. Booklet with historical notes in English (31 pages : illustrations) inserted in container.
