Warfel sent letters to authors profiled in his book requesting verification of proposed biographical facts and asking for comments about their novels, themes chosen, and ideas conveyed. This book is a selection of response letters by thirteen of the authors Warfel contacted. "This edition of 100 numbered copies was hand-set in Garamond type and printed on Rives Heavyweight paper by Carl Darrow at The Greenleaf Press, using the Number 4 Vandercook Proof Press formerly at the shop on Appletree Alley.
