Max Mosbey and Skip Murray walk into the offices of the G&B Detective Agency after a hard weekend of drinking and batching it while the ladies are off on a shopping trip to New York City and find themselves thrown into the hardboiled detective world of Sam Spade, Phillip Marlow and Mike Hammer. Waiting in their reception area is their very own femme fatale in the person of Madeline Moscow, author of the Patience series of detective novels. Madeline launches them into a case that is somewhere between the present and the past. While the case spins with no progress to show for their efforts, the two detectives begin to wonder who the real Madeline Moscow is, and if they are working a case for her or if they are nothing more than characters in another of Madeline?s stories.
